Today the National Archives preserves public records – central, regional and local – as well as archives from non-governmental organisations and individuals.
In support of research and democracy, public access and professionalism are our priorities.
The Swedish National Archives originates in the archives of the Royal Chancery, and got its first instructions in 1618. Maybe the earliest founded archival organisation still in work.
We will celebrate our 400 years of Swedish archival history together with the archival community of Sweden.
More information about the anniversary and scheduled activities during the year will be published on this site.
