Mer information
The Novgorod Occupation Archives is a body of Russian city archives from the early seventeenth century, preserved in the National Archives of Sweden, which has long attracted the interest of Swedish and Russian scholars. Unfortunately, the lack of an adequate description has stood in the way of wider use. At an international symposium in Novgorod in 1993, the possibility was raised of making the Occupation Archives more readily available to scholarship. This finally led to a collaborative project, named Novgorodiana Stockholmiensia , and involving the National Archives in Stockholm, the Slavic languages departments of Stockholm, Uppsala and Lund Universities, and the Russian Academy of Sciences. The aim is the compilation of a complete scholarly catalogue of the Occupation Archives. Since 1995 two Swedish scholars, Elisabeth Löfstrand and Laila Nordquist, have workes om the catalogue, with the assistance of Anatolij Turilov, Moscow. The finished catalogue will comprise two volumes, of which this is the first. It will most probably prove to be a very valuable tool for scholars of several diciplins.
